Oh it's animals

This page is fairly out of date, but we're working on updating it. To see our parrots, please check out our parrot photo album.

Autumn is a rescue kitty from the SPCA. Rowan's had her longer than we've been together. She's 12 now and pretty much in perfect health. She has an ongoing "I'm humping you / No, I'm humping you" drama with Harpo. Other than that, she fills her day with sleeping, food guarding, food eating, sleeping upon people's heads while they sleep, more eating, short naps, etc.

Mona is a female Siamese. She's Gunther's mama and really the only one of our four-leggers who'd bite you without provocation. Though Mona does regard you not petting her as a direct provocation.

Gunther is, as I said, Mona's son. He's totally blind and has been since he was born (no eyes). He has what looks like eye remnants in his sockets but that's about it. He gets around just fine and is probably the sweetest of all our pets. He does have a tendency to dig his claws in for support when sitting on your knee, so you'd do best to wear pants around him.

Zoey is a 9 year old Black Lab/Dalmatian mix, originally from the SPCA. He has the crazy energy of the lab mixed with the well-known anger issues of a Dalmatian. He's actually really sweet and has never harmed anyone, but he's very protective and makes it known.

Lola is a Pit Bull/Whippet mix. Big ol' jaw, which is very strong, but with a very thin, lean body. She can run extremely fast and has caught her share of possums which strayed into the back yard. She's great with people and other dogs, cats as well, but she's got that little bit of hunter in her for the smaller animals.

Harpo is a male Chihuahua. He's the most spoiled of all, and can get away with more than any of the rest. It's not fair, surely, but there's a good deal of difference between Harpo crapping on the floor as opposed to Zoey. And Harpo's also learned the art of being an annoyance in order to get his way much more than the others. Completely shameless.

Ellie is our 1 year old Green Cheeked Conure. She's getting a full-on personality now and she's really sweet. Like all parrots, she has her moods and as such can give a mighty bite if she feels like it. We've had her since she was very young so she gets more interesting by the day. Like now for instance she enjoys looking out the window and telling the people outside to take poops. Lovely.

Morrissey is a splay-legged Meyer's Parrot. He lived in some pretty bad conditions for 17 years before we rescued him, but he's doing much better now. His previous owner said he was vicious and couldn't be handled. Fortunately for us, that's totally not the case. He just wants scritches mostly, and to sit on a playgym and chill. He'll sit on you for hours on end, just checking out the world around him.

Tank is an English Budgie. He's just over a year and is well nigh indestructible. We've had a couple of scares with him; once getting sick, once injuring his toe. Both times we thought that it was the end for him, but he pulled through by the luck of his fro. He's a big time talker, mostly asking if he's a good bird or not; sometimes asking who's the wanky. He's full of questions but very few answers.

Sailor is an Australian Budgie. She was really shy for a long time, but she's coming out of it now and being a bit more into us. She much prefers Tank's company to our's though, but that's cool. They have each other and seem quite happy with the arrangement. They are definitely friends, but that's it.

Auk is a wild caught African Grey. He's very new to us (a rescue), but he's likely over 25 years old. He's a little wary of me (more into Rowan right now), but he's slowly getting relaxed when I try to give him treats. Soon enough I'm sure he'll be totally relaxed around both of us. Like most Greys he can talk fairly well; I'm pretty amazed at what he's learned so far and it's not been very long at all.
